Correct terminologies are very important when discussing or writing about Duplication or Replication matters.DUPLICATION is when the information is BURNT onto the face of a DVD or CD. This method of prodcuing discs with content is usually used when quantities of 500 disc or less are ordered. This method is very speedy for this type of quantities. After the discs are duplicated they can then be printed. The most popular print for quantities of 500 or less is INK JET print. This is very effective and durable but in the main it is not waterproof. If yu require an ink jet printed disc that is waterproof, watershield discs are the ones to use. These are more expensive than standard matt discs BUT the result is stunning.REPLICATION is when the GLASS master is produced and Polycarbonate beads are heated and pressed into a Disc mould to form the finished disc. Obviously the method is not a s simple as we make it sound but we do not want to get to technical. Replication is the industry standard for producing large quantities of discs. If you purchase a CD or DVD from your local music or video store the discs will have been Replicated. Replicated discs will either be SILKSCREEN or LITHO printed, Ink jet or thermal print is not used for Replication.AUTORUN is when a disc has been authored and designed to start automoatically when it is placed in a disc player. In the main it is beneficial for all discs to autorun. This makes it easier for people who are not to conversant with computers to operate. It is easy to check if a CD/DVD disc has been duplicated or replicated. Look at the face of the disc and if you can see a darkened part coming out from the centre of the disc then the disc has been duplicated, because what you see is the Burn information on the face of the disc. This is not visible on a replicated disc.
